             A thought for the moment…”when will you finally arrive?”

Have you ever wondered when you’ll finally arrive? You know what I mean…the time when you’ll suddenly get to the place in your life when you have everything you’ll ever want? Maybe you tell yourself it’s going to be right after you find that perfect job, or get a nice car, find a new, wonderful friend, or maybe you think it’ll be right after you fall completely in love with someone and get married. You tell yourself you’ll be perfectly happy once you get that next thing. You feel like if you can have it, you’ll be completely satisfied with life. And then all of a sudden, you get it but…you’re not fully happy??? You get that feeling that where you are in life just isn’t enough to satisfy you? What I’ve found is that wanting the next big thing is just too weak. I don’t think these desires are strong enough to keep me from craving things. I mean, finally when I get my new job, buy that nice car, and get married to the most amazing person, I might be perfectly happy for the time being but it’s not enough to truly satisfy my soul. What we need to be desiring is something more…something beyond all of the earthly things around us. That something, or rather someone is one who reaches out from beyond time, who goes in front of us to lead us, who’s been trying to capture our hearts from the moment we breathed our first breathe. He’s the one who made us for THIS moment. He doesn’t just want us to always be longing for the next thing…he wants us to live in this moment. Be satisfied for the time being, the time we have RIGHT now. Because he gave it to us for a purpose…have you found your purpose for this moment?
